Have you ever gone out to eat at a popular cafe, paid full price for your food, but only took half of it? Leaving the other half there at the counter to be tossed out at the end of the day?
If you are paying full price for something, you want to make the best use out of it. At BSMC not only are we offering medically assisted treatment for your physical needs, but ALL of our counseling sessions, courses, life skills classes and group meetings are included in your treatment plan. This means they are FREE OF CHARGE. Not only is counseling free for each patient, but there are specialized meetings that allow any friend, family or support person to attend. We encourage our patients to take full advantage of their treatment costs by taking as many classes, courses and one on one counseling sessions as they can.
Here is a brief introduction to a few of the classes we offer:
Peer to Peer Group Meeting:
This meeting is held Tuesday evenings at 7 PM. A qualified team member hosts a group of patients (or friends) who have struggled with Opioid dependencies. The specific purpose of this meeting is to talk about ways to manage and cope with daily stresses in a comfortable environment. We ask that all participants are persons who have struggled with opioid dependencies at some point in their life – making it easier to communicate and share similar experiences and stories with the rest of the group. Participants are not required to share their story, they may come just to listen in and gain hopeful inspiration from those around them. Participants are welcome to bring friends who are support persons in recovery or may benefit from the event. This meeting is located at BSMC and typically lasts one hour.
Family Support Group Meeting:
Similar to the Peer to Peer meeting, Family Support occurs on Tuesday evenings at 7 PM. This group is specifically for family, friends and support persons of persons struggling with opioid dependencies. All persons that may benefit from this group meeting are welcome to join regardless of their history or relationships. This group meeting covers how to help those struggling with dependencies, as well as training on what to do in overdose situations or in treatment situations. Often times a wide variety of educational topics are covered to allow friends and family to better understand the treatment process. This meeting is located at BSMC and typically lasts one hour.
This meeting is a group meeting held on Thursdays at 7 PM. This course covers the basics of treatment – we advise both patients and support persons alike to come in and learn about the treatment process. The purpose of this meeting is to answer questions and teach about Opioid dependencies and how they work in the body and brain. Once a month, a member of the medical team will come and present at this meeting. The medical team will answer questions about treatment and provide a power point presentation about Opioid addiction. This meeting is located at BSMC and lasts one hour.
One on One Counseling and Life Coaching:
One on One counseling is always offered at BSMC. The one on one private sessions are by appointment only, please consult with a team member or call the office phone to schedule an appointment. We have several team members or counselors that are willing to meet one on one to talk about more personal matters. These appointments will be located at BSMC during business hours (6-11 AM Monday – Friday).
W.R.A.P. stands for Wellness & Recovery Action Plan. Our team members have been certified to help patients create action plans that consist of recognizing triggers, as well as setting and reaching goals. The WRAP program is a very effective well known plan to help patients reach their short term and long term goals, and being accountable to someone who is able to help them through the process of recovery. WRAP sessions are held in a variety of settings – call the office phone to set up a one on one appointment or ask a team member about special group meetings that are held for couples, groups, families and etc.
Life Skills Classes:
BSMC offers life skills classes such as budgeting, resume help, interviewing, treatment education and Opioid 101 classes. These are one on one classes that can be set by appointment only. Patients and family members are both invited to attend.
